MPI-SHH supports March For Science

The Max Planck Institute for the Science of Human History in Jena (Germany) is pleased to announce its role as an official partner with the March For Science.

27. März 2017

As a research institute with over 140 staff and research personnel, the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Human History was founded on the belief that collaborative, interdisciplinary scientific research is an essential tenet of a functioning society. Now more than ever, ensuring that future generations have access to education and scientific knowledge requires advocacy for science in both the political and public spheres.

We encourage staff and supporters of the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Human History to participate in March for Science events, and especially to attend the March for Science in Jena scheduled on April 22nd (meeting point is the Ancient University Building, FSU Jena, Fürstengraben 1, at 10 a.m. to walk the city center together; arrival around 12 at Ernst-Abbe-Platz).

More importantly, we ask that our researchers, and those of other international research institutions, work harder than ever to communicate science to the public – writing pieces for social media shared with the hashtag #ScienceServes, engaging with their friends and colleagues in person, or contacting their political representatives about the importance of supporting science through funding and legislative efforts.
