The Max Planck Institute of Geoanthropology will host the first Big Historical Data conference 22-25 November 2023
The digital revolution is providing unprecedented opportunities for deepening our understanding of the human story. Open to all researchers from disciplines involved in the study of past human groups and their environmental context, such as historical, archaeological, and palaeo-climate and palaeo-environmental studies, the conference will be a forum for exploring theoretical aspects including ontologies, data infrastructure, modelling approaches, and relevant case studies.
With an ever-growing accumulation of digital data informing us of various aspects of past human and environmental systems, advanced computational and modelling techniques are being used to gain new insights into historical processes. The inaugural Big Historical Data Conference will capitalize on the possibilities offered by digital methods in historical research.
