Global Archaeology Research Group

Our research has two main themes: 1) fieldwork intensive archaeology, we design and lead international projects in key regions; and 2) big data synthesis, we collate and model data for large-scale analysis. We pose targeted questions about the complex interplay between culture, biology and ecology, with foci spanning from the early Pleistocene into the Anthropocene.

Through survey and excavation, we collect high-resolution data on past human behavior using the latest methods in remote sensing, precision laser scanning, chronometric dating, and digital recording. Through the collation and synthesis of published data, we can interrogate human impact, land-use, and mobility at regional and global scales. In addition, we each bring unique expertise in analytical techniques, ranging from artifact analysis to GIS and agent-based modeling.
