Main Focus

Manuel’s research focuses on the transdisciplinary methodological aspects of archaeology, with core areas including GIS, remote sensing, spatial analysis, and photogrammetry, as well as archaeometry, geoarchaeology, and archaeological conservation.

As the Remote Sensing and Digital Archaeology Specialist in the isoTROPIC group, Manuel is responsible for setting up a UAV-based remote sensing workflow including LiDAR and photogrammetry, to be applied in tropical forest contexts around the globe.

Curriculum Vitae

After completing his BA and MA in Archaeological Conservation at Antwerp University, Manuel obtained an MSc in Digital Archaeology from Leiden University. He received a PhD in Archaeology from Évora University and a PhD in Materials Science and Technology from the Polytechnic University of Turin.
