Kevin Bloomfield

Kevin's research focuses on the intersection of climate and culture in the Roman Mediterranean. His dissertation comprises a number of micro-histories of climate change at ecologically disparate sites across the Mediterranean world, from the deserts of the Libyan Sahara to the floodplains of the Rhône delta, and more besides. His work seeks to integrate historical texts with the paleosciences in order to capture the permeation of climate and the environment into all aspects of life in the ancient world, from medicinal praxis to Christian theology.
