Dr. Shixia YangResearch Associate
Shixia Yang’s current research focuses on stone tool production techniques, raw material sourcing and human adaptation to different environments in East Asia.
Shixia Yang, of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), has been granted a fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation to conduct research at the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Human History from year of 2017 to 2019. Shixia YANG obtained her BSc in history (majoring archeology) from the Sun Yat-sen University in 2010. Out of interests on human evolution, she later began graduate studies in Institute of Vertebrate Palaeontology and Palaeoanthropology (IVPP), CAS, and then she defended her PhD at IVPP in April of 2015. Afterward, she moved to Institute of Geology and Geophysics, CAS, and finished two years post-doctoral fellowship there. In July of 2017, she returned to IVPP, CAS and currently is an associate Professor on Paleolithic archaeology.
