Dr. Anneke Janzen
Anneke Janzen received her BA at the University of California, Berkeley. She received her MA and PhD in Anthropological Archaeology from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Her dissertation research focused on assessing early herder mobility in Kenya through zooarchaeological and stable isotope analyses. For her postdoctoral work, Anneke is expanding this research to examine shifts in pastoral land use strategies throughout eastern and southern Africa, and using stable isotope analysis to track wildlife migrations and distributions in eastern Africa in the context of pastoral expansion and more recent human development.
Anneke has also been involved in using faunal and stable isotope analyses to assess the development of herding in Armenia, Ethiopia, and Tanzania.
