Tawanda is interested in understanding approaches applied in Biomolecular Archaeology. His main research is aiming to use multidisciplinary archaeological and paleoecological approaches which include Stable isotopic analysis, Zooarchaeology by Mass Spectrometry, biomarker and aDNA analysis to provide important insights into how different past anthropogenic activities have impacted plant and animal communities with particular focus on Southern Africa and Zimbabwe.
Curriculum Vitae
Tawanda received a B.A. Archaeology, Cultural Heritage & Museum Studies Honours Degree from Midlands State University, Zimbabwe in 2015 and did a dissertation titled "The archaeology of pre-colonial Mukaro community: a preliminary documentation" which focused on documenting the archaeological heritage property associated with the people of Mukaro living in the area of Gutu, Zimbabwe. He also obtained his Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree in Archaeological Material Science (ARCHMAT) from the University of Evora (Portugal), Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece) and Sapienza University of Rome (Italy). During his masters period, Tawanda did his thesis titled "Diet of Post-medieval population at Lagos, 14th-19th Portugal" focusing on human palaeodietary reconstruction by perfoming stable isotopic on human bone collagen and this research was done at HERCULES Laboratory for the Study and Conservation of Cultural Heritage at the University of Evora in 2020.
