Former doctoral candidate with the Pan African Evolution Research Group. Completed July 2022: PhD in Hominin Behaviour and Environments of Pleistocene West Africa.
Jacopo Niccolò Cerasoni completed his B.Sc. in
Archaeology and Forensic Science at the University of Exeter (UK), with a
dissertation focusing on the environmental reconstruction of Southern Jê
landscapes in South Brazil. Subsequently, he achieved an M.A. in Archaeology at
the University of Exeter, researching human-environment relationships in the
Plio-Pleistocene Rift Valley, comparing known ecological and dietary records to
modern primatological studies. Conjointly with the study of environmental sciences,
he developed skills in lithic analysis, computational archaeology and field
investigation methods after working in a variety of contexts, chronologies and
countries both in academic and commercial projects. He finally studied as a
Master’s student in the programme on Quaternary Archaeology and Human
Evolution, in association with the Universitat Rovira i Virgili and the
Institut Català de Paleoecologia i Evolució Humana in Tarragona (ES). His research interests focus upon the study of Pleistocene hominin technological behaviour, human-environment relationships and field survey and excavation techniques.
