Quantitative Methods - Spring School 2016

The QMSS is for postgraduate and early-career
researchers studying linguistic and cultural evolution and
the sciences of human history.


Software pipelines + databases, basic and advanced
statistics, phylogenetic tree inference, comparative
methods, simulation techniques, data visualisation, and
asking good research questions.


Five days of residential training in a range of methods
from expert tutors. You’ll cover theoretical and
conceptual material, do hands-on practical exercises
using R, and get expert feedback on your own research.

Places are competitive by application and limited to 14
students. All your on-site accommodation and economy travel
will be covered.

All applicants need to provide a one-page outline of their
proposed or current research and detail how the QMSS will
benefit their projects.

Applications close March 1st and successful QMSS
students will be notified by April 1st.
