In my presentation, the concept and the principle of stable isotope analysis will be introduced at first. Secondly, some important thresholds for human dietary transition in ancient China, such as the focus in aquatic foods in the late Pleistocene, the occurrence and development of agriculture and its impact on human dietary evolution and so on, will be revealed by this method. At last, the application to investigating animal domestication by stable isotope analysis will be discussed as well.
